Welcome to Beholding Beauty!
“Beauty is truth, truth beauty - that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”
John Keats, Ode On a Grecian Urn
I think Keats was onto something profound. We are all wired to respond to beauty. I think that’s God’s way of drawing us toward Himself. And there’s so much ugliness in the world - in our politics, in our culture, in the way we talk about and treat each other. My own tendency toward combativeness is at war with my soul, too.
That’s not the way it’s supposed to be - and I think we all know it.
I want to do my part by pointing out beauty where I see it. That’s the point of this newsletter. My goal is to shine a light on truth and beauty (which I am convinced are the same thing) in a way that is itself both beautiful and true. My plan is to send two emails every week - one on Tuesday with a short article of my evolving thoughts and I pursue truth and beauty in my own life. And on Fridays, I’ll share three things I found beautiful I encountered in the past week that you might find helpful in your on quest for beauty.
I hope you’ll join me, and maybe tell a few like-minded friends.
